Welcome to the Up Down Project

APS Down is a nonprofit organization, located in Londrina, southern Brazil, that offers free assessment of individuals with Down Syndrome from birth to adulthood. There are staff and volunteers who work in various areas to promote the development of patients with the syndrome, their inclusion in society and psychological support to their families.

We are starting a project that could change the future of many people with Down syndrome and you are invited to join us in this journey.

Our first project: the installation of an industrial kitchen at APS Down School.

The goal is to give opportunity to young people with Down syndrome to learn basic cooking & gastronomy, to give them autonomy in their homes and also to allow their introduction into the labor market.

The Rotary Club of Armidale Central (Australia D9650) readily believed in the project and suggested an international partnership, through matching grants, with the local Rotary Club in Brazil.

Two Rotary Clubs in Londrina City (Alvorada and Londrina Sul D4710) were invited to join in this project and accepted the challenge.

The industrial kitchen project was taken to Rotary International as a project of international cooperation  between Brazil-Australia Rotary clubs. It was approved and the kitchen makeover will soon begin. We will be posting pictures of the progress in implementing the kitchen.

We invite you to join us and participate actively with your suggestions, your knowledge or your time...

Welcome
